  • Briefly provide the history of this client’s illness.  Be sure to include initials for the client’s name, include their age, why the client is being seen in the health care setting, and what treatments, if any, the client has experienced so far.
  • What are the priority problem(s) for Juan Carlos? Identify at least 2. During the simulation, did the priorities change? Why or why not?
  • What data was presented or was gathered by the nurse that would ‘guide’ the need for education in this client? Identify at least 3.
  • Discuss the importance of client education on proper diabetic control. Why does it matter for this client?  
  • Outline at least 3 specific client education teaching strategies that would be useful in working with this client.  For example, are there specific tools that could be used to review medications? 
  • Mr. Carlos asks about COVID-19 and Diabetes.  Using the CDC web site, what information should the nurse communicate with Mr. Carlos.  Be sure to cite the source.

2. Develop a CONCEPT MAP that explains the relationships between the client’s risk factors, pathophysiology of disease state, clinical manifestations, & assessment findings .
