DIRECTIONS: Use APA format, including but not limited to a title page, citations and references. • Briefly provide the history of this client’s illness.  Be sure to include initials for the client’s name, include their age, why the client is being seen in the health care setting, and what treatments, if any, the client has experienced so far.
• What are the priority problem(s) for Juan Carlos? Identify at least 2. During the simulation, did the priorities change? Why or why not?
• What data was presented or was gathered by the nurse that would ‘guide’ the need for education in this client? Identify at least 3.
• Discuss the importance of client education on proper diabetic control. Why does it matter for this client?  
• Outline at least 3 specific client education teaching strategies that would be useful in working with this client.  For example, are there specific tools that could be used to review medications? 
• Mr. Carlos asks about COVID-19 and Diabetes.  Using the CDC web site, what information should the nurse communicate with Mr. Carlos.  Be sure to cite the source.

2. Develop a CONCEPT MAP that explains the relationships between the client’s risk factors, pathophysiology of disease state, clinical manifestations, & assessment findings .

Connections within the concept map or descriptions in the chart clearly explain the interconnected relationships and links between pathophysiology, causes/risk factors, and clinical manifestations in enough depth to accurately reflect the complexity of the case.

The concept map OR table/chart should illustrate:

• The pathophysiological steps of the disease process experienced by the client
• Causes/risk factors pertinent to the disease process.  Be sure to include and identify those that are pertinent to this client 
• Clinical manifestations (symptoms- at admission and any change, assessment findings, labs, vital signs, etc.) 

3. Construct a medication table/chart that analyzes all the client’s pharmacologic treatments, taking into consideration the client’s unique characteristics, situational factors, functional level, etc. Include all forms of medication including IVs and oxygen as appropriate. Do not cut/paste.  Use your own words (If you have already included Oxygen for a previous vSim, you can use the same information here).  Be sure to address the characteristics below:

•       Mechanism of action –Describe this in your own words    
•       Indication of use specific to THIS CLIENT
