This project will be focusing on your skills to compare two different or two similar pieces of music or artists. Your task will be, similarly to the midterm project, to write an essay, however this time it will be a comparative analysis of two albums, two artists or two songs. These may come from the same genre of music, or from completely different ones (for example – comparing a classical music composer and a rock artist who both wrote music inspired by love). I want you to be creative, to use strong argumentation and YOUR OWN opinion about the artists/albums/songs you decide to write about.

Your paper should roughly consist of 3 sections – introduction, middle section and conclusion. In the introductory section, you will provide a historical background of the music/artists you chose to write about, your personal reasons for choosing these particular artists/musical pieces etc. Middle section is where you will do the majority of your comparative analysis, describing and analyzing each song/album/artist individually, then comparing them to one another. Finally, the conclusion section is where you wrap it all up and provide the results of your analysis in a clear but creative way. This is a music class, so don’t forget to be creative with your writing style, your points and overall analysis.
