Wk 3 Discussion – Creating Emotion Through Dance

I’m working on a art discussion question and need support to help me learn.

Dance and music both communicate ideas and emotions without the use of words. Even in the absence of a vocal component, choreographers and composers can create meaning and tell stories. Choreographers do this through the use of different kinds of movement, while composers do it through different elements of music like melody, harmony, and rhythm. Most but not all dance is choreographed to music.

Imagine you are creating a ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, or another kind of group dance routine. Pick a range of emotions that you would like to express to the audience through your choreography. What kind of story would you like to tell?
