The organization’s design is a factor of utmost importance that influences both behaviors of the employees and the outcomes of their behavior in this design. Whether functional or program structure, an organizational design has its own advantages and flaws (Burns et al., 2019). The organizational redesign is defined as rearranging responsibilities authority and re-directing the flow of information through changes in organizational structure that are required to turn the flaws into advantages to achieve organizational goals. The changing demands in the healthcare system focusing on more value-based, patient-centered care require appropriate changes to be made in the design of the health systems to achieve the goal so that the challenges of scarce resources economic and policy changes are overcome.

If I were the CEO of an integrated healthcare system, then to make the design more suitable to achieve patient-centered care, which is a significant need of healthcare, I would suggest and plan interventions according to the patient-centered model as it provides a greater efficacy and efficiency. Moreover, it addresses the condition of the hour that requires a shift from functional to a process framed design forms focusing on the process of care (Fiorio et al., 2018). In order to bring about this change, I will carry out a few process changes required, such as the distribution of cases from body part wise to clinic severity and amount of help the patient needs. Further, instead of mobilizing patients to various units, I will facilitate them and equipment to the patient due to the interdisciplinary team working on a patient. I will then take steps to promote this model by increasing collaboration amongst the interdisciplinary fields so that they work as one to treat the patients. Lastly, I will order the talent team to recruit managerial staff to assist in the smooth on-field functioning of care. Since the process changes have taken place, a lot of infrastructure changes will require this change in the classification style of assigning patients. Although this model requires design changes that need years to be perfectly in effect, it is still a sustainable design to be followed.

With the changes in the design, the demands on the coordination of activities are required to provide optimized care. This effort of improving coordination can involve multiple approaches to improve sequential, parallel, and system enablers for coordinators (World Health Organization, ‎2018)‎. Improving the technology system is one of the essential steps I will take to promote this smooth interplay between all players (coo-ordination) to deliver care. An EHR system that would facilitate the free flow of patient notes, conditions, progress, expert advice, etc., will be implemented to increase the most from this coordination. I will also promote the increased drive for programming approaches to achieve coordination. Standardization of rules, regulations, schedules, policies and protocols will be carried out together with standardizing training process and outcomes of work (Burns et al., 2019).
