Walden University Nursing Leadership Discussion Reply
Description
I need a response to the post below:
Nurses are leaders formally or informally from the day we graduate from nursing school. Great leaders I believe have a positive outlook and impact on both the patients and those working underneath them . Authenticity from leaders is heartfelt and appreciated by nurses who are on the front line dealing with patients and their families. According to Broome and Marshall 2020, Nurse leaders who are authentic are able to be honest and open in their relationships with individuals to whom they report to, as well as those who work for them.
Nursing leadership in the clinical setting has been recognized as critical for a high quality of care and effective functioning of clinical units. The dynamic changes in the healthcare system have massive changes with an increasing emphasis on quality improvement, patient-centered care, and the need for effective leadership.Jumoke Ajanaku, O., & Lubbe, W. (2021)Quality of Nursing Work Life (QNWL) is a direct indicator of nurse satisfaction with their work this QNWL causes a positive relationship therefore the turn over is less.
I currently work under a nurse manager I admire due to her leadership skills and integrity. She is visible on the floor, talking to nurses and involving them with any policies that would impact nurses. My nurse manager has an open door policy that allows for open communication when need be. Having worked on the floor herself she understands what day to day nursing is expected and mainly the on going challenges.
