The technical goals for the network should not be randomly set by the network designer or planner but derived from customer business requirements and priorities. In this application, you analyze a business case and formulate the technical goals for a network that satisfies the business requirements.
The Sports Management Division is going to set up a wireless/wired mixed network for a football stadium to enhance the security and safety of spectators. A central control office is located in the division lab (Sports Laboratory) and is directly connected to the campus core network.
The Sports Management Division would like to install a new monitoring console (computer) in the control office. This computer should be connected to the stadium network through router(s) on the campus network. The stadium network will have a gateway router connected to the Sports Facility Network that is directly connected to the campus core network and multiple WiFi access points in the stadium.
The WiFi access points should be connected to the gateway router through wired cable and Ethernet switches. Inside the stadium, three types of devices will be deployed: video cameras, temperature monitors, and mobile terminals. Each type of device should be connected to a specially named group of WiFi access points. For example, video devices will be connected to WiFi access points with the SSID name of “video.” All WiFi access points for the same type of devices should be managed together.
To ensure network security, all communication between the devices and the lab gateway needs to be secure.
Consider the eight technical goals as outlined. As you consider each technical goal, assume that it is the most important goal, and that the other goals are subsidiary.
