This is a multipart assignment.
For this project, you will write a narrative inspired by the history of an elder, specifically in regards to their migration and/or settling in the north or south, their experiences as “other” (or experiences with “others”), in their communities, and their familial history in the United States.
Project requirements:
- Interview an elder (born before 1960)
- Complete an analysis of the interviewee’s experience in comparison and contrast of the narratives read/discussed in the course
- Write a short narrative (between 800- 1200 words) sharing your interviewee’s story of history and home
Part I – History Meets Home Interview Questions (10 Questions)
Post your interview questions for your History Meets Home project. You should aim for at least 10 questions, particularly open-ended questions that encourage your interviewee to share impressions, stories, and experiences.
Part II – Interview Transcript
Submit a typed copy of your transcribed interview. Interview should include question and answer format (you don’t need to include time stamps if you recorded interview). Time Stamps are needed if there is not a recorded version.
The interview should include your name, the interviewee’s name, the time and place of the interview.
These transcripts provide the basis for your narrative.
Part III
- Write a short narrative (between 800- 1200 words) sharing your interviewee’s story of history and home. MLA FORMAT REQUIRED
