University of Texas Arlington Writing About an Event Task
Description
post a link to a YouTube video that’s about an event, and I have to write about is as I was attending the event.
instruction below:Events/Activities have to be documented with a brief event description, a reflection and two pictures. Here’s what you need to know:
For Each Event: Document your event/activity, in one document (.docx or .pdf only) that contains the three elements below: Event Description, Reflection, and Pictures. This one document will contain your brief description of the event, will include your reflection, and will have your required photos inserted/copied into it.
1. Event Description: The event description should describe what event you participated in with appropriate details including
event name,
time, date and location, (If you watched a recorded event, include both the original event date and the date that you watched the event.)
sponsor of the event/activity if there is one, (Note: The UTA COE Virtual Brown Bag seminars are sponsored by the UTA COE (College of Engineering))
details of the event source, i.e. the name of the speaker or speakers (if any), title of class, webinar, website, book, or source material used,
a short summary of the event content (including any details as specified for the specific category you chose), and
- any references or details specified in the event description, for example, a brief bio or the speaker or the location of a web page used for researching a topic.
- 2. Reflection: We use reflective writing to analyze and examine an event, memory, or observation. In reflective writing, the writer reflects on the meaning and impact of the occasion. Given that you have already written your event description, write a brief (one page max, typed) reflection of your experience at the event that you attended/participated in. Focus your reflection paragraphs on some of the questions below. Structure your short reflection by having one paragraph for each of the following three topics:
- Contextualize your reflection: What are your learning goals for this activity? What are the objectives of the organization that hosted the event/activity? How do these goals fit with the themes or concepts from this ENGR course?
- Analytical Reflection: What did you learn from this experience ? About yourself? About working in the field? About society? Describe at least two things that you learned.
- Lessons from reflection: Did your experience fit with the goals or concepts of this ENGR course or your personal goals? Why or why not? What are your lessons for the future? Describe how the event aligns with your future academic or career goals and mention any networking opportunities that were available during the experience (even if you did not take advantage of them.)
- 3. Pictures: For all events/activities, include two photos of your participation in the event.
