Lakevia:As a healthcare manager, patient privacy is important. Implementation of proper policies and procedures is a must. Providing my staff with all needed information and sufficient training to make sure we are kept up to date. Not just with the staff, it is equally important to have our technology and systems to where they have the proper software to filter and/or block any malicious or something that could breech patient information. In previous jobs held, there was always a strict no phone policy. I would have to stress the importance of not using phones while at work stations, just ensure all information is kept safe and confidential. There would also be credentials assigned to each specific team member, with some only having access to certain info, to show who accessed what and when. Having these policies in place, because without them can cause a domino effect within the business. There could be potentially lawsuits and distrust. Having these, could come with unwanted costs and a loss of business. It is very important to stick with the policies to avoid any disruptions.

How do you propose that staff is educated on HIPAA/HITECH and the organizational policies in place? Would you propose in person education? Online education? Would you propose post-tests to assure understanding?
