University of Phoenix Ethics in Project Management Discussion
Description
This Discussion focuses on the cost estimates determined by a project manager based on a proposal. Steve is an IT network specialist, and his company provides services to small business owners. A representative from GT Cloud Computing (GTCC) contacted Steve and asked him to provide a quote for a new network that had a high-level of security. After reviewing the request for proposal (RFP), Steve sent a quote for $12,500.
The rep from GTCC failed to respond, and Steve did not follow-up, thinking they were not interested. However, a year later, the business owner of GTCC called Steve directly, and mentioned he wanted the work started right away. Steve went back to review the RFP, and determined that he could now do the work for $9,500.
Please respond to the following questions in a minimum of 300 words:
- What are the ethical implications of this scenario?
- Does it matter that the GTCC business owner did not ask Steve for a new quote? Please explain.
- What advice would you provide Steve regarding this situation?
