Ruskin, A. (2004). Two issues concerning the use of earned value measurements. Engineering Management Journal, 16(3), 26–30.
This article shows that earned value measurements (EVMs) should be made at the lowest level of the WBS for which budgets are available and should use the “0–100” approach in assessing earned value. You have used the EVMs in class at the task level instead of the work package level with an incremental (days/weeks/months versus 25/25/25/25, 50/50, 0–100) completion approach. Based on your knowledge of earned value, take a position on which methodology you feel is a better approach. Be sure to state your premise and understanding of the different approaches and then analyze your options, synthesize your analysis into a recommended approach, and assess the validity of your recommendation based on a cited reference and/or example in a minimum of 300 words.
