Pursuant to LA Law and BESE Policy, the Office of School Choice and local school boards monitor the Economically Disadvantaged (ED) and Students with Disabilities (SWD) enrollment rates and procedures of their authorized charter schools (Type 1, 2, 3, 4). Each year, the Office of School Choice provides BESE with a Special Populations Report. 

The Charter Accountability Team has collected ED and SWD %s data for all Type 2 and Type 4 Charter Schools which is found in tab 2 of the Excel file.Law requires that BESE develop and administer a process to measure whether charter schools are meeting these requirements and that the process shall:

1. Provide for an investigation of a charter school that fails to meet the requirements to determine the reasons for such failure and all actions taken by the school toward meeting the requirements, and 

2. Include clear identification of the responsibilities of the charter school, the local school board of the district in which the charter school is located, and the state board for meeting the needs of the students. 

For the purpose of this performance task, you will analyze the schools’ data and provide the Executive Director with a summary report of your findings. This summary should include an outline of the requirements for schools under R.S. 17:3991 and BESE Bulletin 126, reporting on schools’ performance toward meeting the standards under the law and policy, and detail the actions of the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) will take regarding schools that do not meet these standards.
