1)Due process is in place to make sure equality and fairness is applied through laws, especially when a citizen is accused of a crime. This process goes to bat for individual liberties and rights, and reducing governmental powers. As to crime control models puts great emphasis in reducing crime within communities by increasing police and prosecutorial powers. Crime seems to have a preset idea that arrested personal are guilty and do the most to convict efficiently and effectively. Due process has more of a innocent til proven guilty approach, keeping the individual’s rights and liberties at most priority. Due process and crime control go hand-in-hand because they balance the criminal justice system. Due process aids to the accused and makes sure fairness is present, and crime control maintains safety and structure within communities. Improving the relationship between crime control and due process could have multiple approaches. I do believe there must be a balance between the two. Having public order while ensuring individual rights is what makes the U.S. the land of the free. The fourteenth amendment was adopted in 1968, granting citizenship and legal rights to African Americans and enslaved people who had been emancipated after the American civil war. The amendment also made it illegal for any state to deny a person equal protection under the law. I believe this amendment leans more towards the due process and favors making sure individuals are treated fairly and equally, no matter what.

2)In my opinion the due process affect crime control mainly due to the rules behind the due process. The due process gives citizens their rights and can effect the crime control models of criminal justice system because of that reason, meaning that law enforcers such as police officers cannot arrest an individual because the officer think they have a reason to in their opinion, in short words the officer abusing their power. We can improve the due process, crime control models, and influence on the fourteenth amendment by first having our police officers learning and understanding why the fourteenth amendment is put in place. If an officer don’t know the fourteenth amendment how can that officer understand something they don’t know let alone hold citizens accountable. The fourteenth amendment keeps the police officers from thinking they are above the law and that even though they are there to enforce the law they are not the law. A lot of officers abuse their power and I believe if we hold them accountable more, and show that even a officer can be a criminal and be trailed as a criminal then we can closely bridge the gap of the fourteenth amendment.
