UCI Wk 11 We Have Not yet Received Payment for The Sale Collection Letter

  The project on the schedule is a collection letter, which is a bit repetitive of some of the letters you’ve written. (It utilizes MBA structure while adopting a neutral tone with the end of collecting past due monies.) 

If you find that it might be worth your while to practice writing in this genre, go ahead and create a collection letter. As an alternative, you may create a mission statement for a real or imagined organization. Mission statements are challenging because they demand a precise control of language and word choice in order to convey—clearly and succinctly—an organization’s raison d’etre. 

Option #1

____ Read the section on collection letters in the handout from last week, “Letters That Hit the Mark.” You’ll find it on pp. 174-75. I’ve reposted the handout in this week’s folder. 

____ Write a collection letter.  Adopt a neutral, polite tone. Utilize MBA structure. Be specific about how and when the recipient should remit payment.

____ Conduct your own research on mission statements. Find samples on the websites of companies or non-profits that resemble your chosen organization. 

____ Write a substantial paragraph that articulates your organization’s mission. B
