UCB Interview with Kyle Diangkinay Paper

Directions- Perform an internet search of college athletic department staff directories and identify 3-5 administrators that currently hold a position that you aspire to one day hold or are interested in learning more about. Email or call each administrator and ask to schedule a 20-minute interview with them for an assignment in your Intercollegiate Athletics class at. I suggest reaching out to 3-5 administrators because it is possible that some may not respond right away or will be too busy to agree to the interview. However, only one administrator needs to be interviewed and written about.

The intention of this assignment is to help identify specific areas within a college athletic department that you may be interested in pursuing after graduation while also expanding your professional network for potential future employment opportunities.

Questions to ask;

1) How did you get to your current position? Delve into the administrator’s background to determine if it was more traditional or non-traditional. What were the benefits or drawbacks of their path?

2) What is the most difficult aspect of their job? What are the greatest challenges/drawbacks?

3) What are the most rewarding/fulfilling/satisfying aspects of their job? What do they enjoy the most?

4) What is their advice to someone seeking to break into the industry?
