UALR Downstream River Changes Lab Report

In this lab you will be examining the changes in a river system from its headwaters downstream to its mouth. Please watch the introductory video, Lab 14 – Downstream River Changes, for lab 14 before starting this lab. In this video, I show some helpful information for calculating the stream gradient at the 3 different points along the Arkansas River.

For the Holly Cross, Colorado map you are measuring the tributary that flows into East Tennessee Creek located in sections 25, 26, and 27. You are to only measure the length of this stream from its start in section 25 to where it flows into East Tennessee Creek in section 27.

For the Pretty Hair, Oklahoma map you are to measure the length of the Arkansas River starting upstream at the contour that crosses the river in section 31 then move downstream to where the contour labeled 860 crosses the river in section 17. Be sure to remember that floodplain width and channel width are measured in feet.

For the Cornerstone, Arkansas map you are to measure the width of the river in section 20. Be sure to remember that channel width is measured in feet.

You will need to turn in pages 115, 119 and 120 from your lab manual. You need to scanned or take a picture of all the pages so you can submit them on Blackboard. Please combine both pages into one file before submitting your assignment. Please make sure that the resolution of your file is high enough for me to read your work. If I cannot read your work, you will receive a zero for the assignment. I will send your lab back to you explaining why you received no credit for the assignment.
