For this unit, we watched the 1903 classic, The Great Train Robbery. This film uses non-verbal acting. For many of you this was the first time watching a non-verbal film. Using this film as the example of non-verbal communication, I want you to compare our movie of the week to a film you currently enjoy that has been made in the last two years. Identifying your chosen film, compare and contrast the following:
- Examine how non-verbal communication is used in both films.
- Define how subjective responses is used by actors in both films.
- What are some of the “special casting challenges” found in both films.
