Synthesis Chart
Description
A synthesis chart is a way to set up a comparison (or contrast) of different texts you read. For this assignment you will fill out the attached synthesis chart for the following three readings (all located in the Illness (Readings) module).
1. Chapter 13 of the book of Leviticus from the Hebrew Bible.
2. “Stultifera Navis” from Michel Foucault’s Madness and Civilization.
3. Chapter 17 from Randy Shilts’ And the Band Played On.
In the first column of the chart, you simply write the titles of the three texts. Use the second column to write down the main points and key words for each text. Finally, in the third column, you can indicate how the texts relate to one another, how they are similar and how different. In the third column you can also record your reactions to the texts or aspects of the texts.
