What is meant by a global vision? Discuss some of the ways that global marketing is important, especially to the United States today. What are some of the current issues related to global marketing in this country? Do you think that most consumers today understand global marketing accurately?

A global vision is the practice of developing marketing opportunities both in a companies home country and worldwide. In the United States today, global marketing is important because it can be very profitable. Global markets can mean expanding business to markets in other countries that may not be as saturated. Global marketing is central to importing and exporting. The US is unable to produce everything that they need like manganese and vanadium which are used to make steel and steel alloys, so they have to import these items. Our country cannot survive without these imports. A totally isolated country would be severally hindered.  

There are a lot of controversies that surround global marketing. Job outsourcing has become a real political topic. Thousands of jobs have been moved offshore because of cheap labor costs. There is a current push to bring production jobs back to the US, but it will never go back to the numbers before the 1980’s. Automation is now starting to remove jobs from productions facilities. Also, the US needs to work on it’s trade deficit. We import more than we export, and that deficit is only rising, up $200 billion from 2020 to 2021. 

I don’t think that most consumers today understand global marketing. Consumers focus on the “negative” effects of global marketing, But there are positive outcomes for companies that make global marketing a virtue. Currently, only the negatives are catching the headlines and the positives are being taken advantage of quietly by the companies that know how to do so.

Global vision is the ability of companies being able to react to international marketing opportunities, use effective marketing strategies on a global scale, and be aware of potential threats from other markets around the world. 

Global marketing is something that is very important for each and every company to be looking towards. However the idea of global marketing can be quite broad, meaning there are a lot of different ways you can look at it. Companies need to be able to be thinking about many different things when thinking about their product on a global scale. A few things might be knowing the demand for the product on a global scale, or even the supply. It could mean knowing how affordable your product is in other markets. It could even mean knowing how to ship your products globally. On the other side of things, global marketing is very important for a lot of mid to larger companies when it comes to manufacturing. It is very expensive to manufacture most things in bulk here on US soil. A lot of companies start outsourcing, or turning to other countries where the factories or labor is cheaper. It is much cheaper for companies to ship their products to the US after being created elsewhere.

One major issue related to global marketing right now would be how a lot of companies outsource their product to other countries. From the companies standpoint it makes a whole lot of sense. However from an economies standpoint, when companies do this, they are taking away hundreds, if not more jobs from US citizens. This is apart of the reason why unemployment in the US is typically quite high.

I do think that the concept of global marketing is not all that complicated in its entirety. However, what I think a lot of people, consumers especially, don’t see is how many different factors go in to global marketing as a whole.
