Now it’s time to practice creating a persuasive social media post using the principles of persuasion you’ve learned. In the template below, you’ll create an Instagram post, so it will need to feature an image accompanied by a caption. Your goal is to persuade your audience to support one specific improvement in your community or your workplace. You may use your proposal as the subject of your post, or you may select a different improvement to focus on.

Select your topic—a suggested improvement for your workplace or community. You can use the topic from your proposal, or you can come up with a different idea if you’d like.
Find an image that will complement or illustrate your post in some way. You may want to use your mobile device to snap a compelling picture to go with your persuasive post. If you use an image that you didn’t create or take yourself, make sure to attribute credit to the person who did by tagging them (using the format @username for Instagram) or including their name in your caption. You will be able to upload an image using the template below.
Write a caption to persuade your audience to support your cause.
Practice your persuasive techniques and the brief, focused style of writing appropriate for social media. Keep in mind that Instagram captions are limited to 2,200 characters and no more than 30 hashtags. So you will need to be direct and get right to the point. Your caption should be organized as follows:

First, introduce your cause (an improvement to your workplace or community).
Then include one rhetorical appeal (logic, emotion, or credibility) directed at the audience to encourage their support or engagement.
Finally, include one example of anecdotal evidence (personal experience) that supports your persuasive point.
