I’m working on a history report and need a sample draft to help me learn.
After the Declaration of Independence was finalized, the Boston Committee of Correspondence declared a military draft. Most people being drafted were poor people. “The rich could, avoid the draft by paying for substitutes; the poor had to serve.” We will see this again in the American Civil War, World War I and the Vietnam War.
What is your opinion on the rich colonial Americans being able to buy their way out of the draft?
