As a health provider, to make sure patients receive evidence-based information and care would be to incorporate well researched interventions for the patient that were supported by previous clinical experiences and evidence all while making sure to include what the patient is wanting for their treatment as well.

When speaking to patients about Evidence based care, it can be helpful to show them resources that would be relevant to the types of treatment options being considered for their case. For example, providing clinical websites, brochures, or flipbooks with images to show clinical information on one side along with plain language on the other for easy understanding. These types of resources can showcase how and where the determination of care methodologies come from. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services even have resources such as toolkits available for providers to assist in making patient materials clearer and more effective (Toolkit for Making Written Material Clear and Effective | CMS, n.d.). When providers explain evidence-based medicine to their patients, it is important they share that using this methodology, can provide the care based on the best possible research and evidence to address their treatment while incorporating patient preferences that are unique to each patient.

There can be challenges in using evidence-based care simply due in part to the overall adoption of the methodology. There can be limitations within the healthcare system a provider works in that does not entirely support. Another challenge is time for the provider to spend on implementing EBP, which can take considerable time to process, ultimately steering them away from using.

As a Health provider, ensuring that patients receive the most accurate information is crucial. Using evidenced-based information for one’s care is the best practice for ensuring the patient will receive the truth. Finding information from several reliable sources ensure the information given is accurate. Having peer-reviewed journals, books, library databases, government websites, and even clinical trials all ensure the information is researched, tested, and non-bias. (Jagars, 2022) Showing one’s own research material, with information regarding diagnosis, coping, or anything in nature to information. Reiterating one’s sources and combining government statists to show the patients the information is trustworthy and capable of being understood. Using an evidence-based delivery is difficulty due to numerous reasons. The ability to agree with all the research in a single article is difficult and having like articles contradict each other questions judgment and reliability of what is true. Using evidence base behavior to correctly deliver the whole truth and not only what one believes to be true is a challenge.

I couldn’t find a review that spoke about my problem post in module 1, but I did find a review that is very interesting and has to do with my line of work right now. The review is on wait times for elective procedures and different interventions that could be offered to help reduce those wait times. I know first hand that with insurance and certain procedures, a patient can be waiting up to two weeks before receiving an approval or denial from their insurance company and if the request for authorization is denied, an insurance company has up to three months to make a decision on an appeal that is filed. During these times patients can become very stressed due to the pain the they’re in and waiting so long to get an authorization for their procedure, can cause their quality of care to decrease. Being able to offer over interventions to try and help the patient and their pain level, can be very beneficial when it comes to working with insurance companies because most insurance companies want the patient to have physical therapy and try medications prior to having any type of elective procedure such as injection. Being able to offer other interventions to the patient can often ease their minds on what is happening with their pending insurance cases and also lets them know that as health care providers, the teams are trying everything they can to make sure the patient is receiving the best quality of care that they can.

Ear, nose & throat in Cochrane Topic I have chosen to read and study. I am pretty interested in this topic because my adult son had several issues with his ears. Now, I have a 1 year-old that is having the same ear nose and throat problems. I was unable to locate anything in the COCHRANE REVIEW on what I identified as my research problem I identified in Module 1

I have always wanted to know what deep down things caused such a severity of problems with little guys ear, nose and throats. The infections are many times caused by the same types of those viruses and bacteria. I did learn that a many of symptoms do differ sometimes depending on actually where the infection happen to be located.

There were a few findings that ear infections can cause earache, lots of wax build up with leakage, and also hearing loss along balance problems. These findings do disturb me because all are so close to home. My grandson, whom I mentioned earlier going into this passage, is often affected by all of the above.
