Southern New Hampshire University Technology Developments Discussion
Description
For this module’s discussion, research a recent science news event that has occurred in the last six months. The event should come from a well-known news source, such as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, NPR, PBS, BBC, National Geographic, The New York Times, and so on. Post a link to the news story, and in your initial post:
Summarize your news story and its contributions to the science or STEM fields
If your news event is overtly related to technology, explain how this event contributes to technology studies? If your news event does not directly relate to technology, how could the science behind your event be applied to technology studies?

It is a article from NBC News titled “A heat wave and snowfall: Why researchers are puzzled by Antarctica’s recent weather. In the article it talked about the rise of the temperature in parts of East Antarctica climbed 70 degrees above the normal average for temperature in that area. This allowed for large amount of snow in areas but also the falling off the ice shelf into the sea a portion the size of Los Angles. To me this is an extreme event that we need to figure out. At the moment they are not sure what role climate change has played in this event. The good thing is also helped with the slowing of melting due to the strange weather due to snowfall that occurred and the formation of more ice across the entire shelf. It was stated by researchers the benefits it has had on the melting in the area also a s a whole. Now when it comes to this event it is related to technology due to the equipment used for the research allows us to see the effects, we are having researched. Also with the research will come advancements in the technology used due to seeing what works with it and what needs to change so we can better research these issues that occur. It will study every phase in the history of our Universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own Solar System” (Garner, 2021).This telescope will view and allow NASA to study galaxies and parts of space never seen before. The possibilities for new discoveries are endless. This telescope has been worked on for 30 years, and cost roughly 10 billion dollars to complete. There are also many new technologies developed for this program including a large heat shield and a new space mirror. The potential discoveries made by WEBB can create tremendous contributions to not only astronomy, but many other fields in the science realm. The potential to learn about how the universe began, to gain knowledge about other universes and the possibilities of other earth like planets, could lead to whole new areas of study within science. The launch of this satellite can also give us a look into the unknown and potential new discoveries to be studied by current and future generations of scientists. There is also the hope that discoveries could lead to improving life on Earth, and ways to go even further into space in the search for life in the stars.https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/webb/about/index.htmlhttps://jwst.nasa.gov/content/webbLaunch/countdown…References:Garner, R.
