Sociology Question
Question Description
I’m working on a sociology writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Housing discrimination continues to be a very real issue for many minorities in the US today. Sometimes it’s an accent over the telephone. Sometimes it’s making contact with a real estate agent or property manager for the first time and they realize that you weren’t as “white” as you sounded on the phone. This is a pocketbook issue for minorities—it affects your quality of life, especially for those in the middle-class who have “played the game” by all the rules, have achieved their degrees, have attained a good job, and are seeking an opportunity to purchase or live a part of the American Dream.

2) What are the characteristics of housing discrimination? How were the residents of Coal Run personally affected by this discrimination?
3) Given the various scenarios in each of the videos, what would you do if you discovered you were being discriminated against in your housing choice? What would you do if a friend told you they were being discriminated against in housing?
