• An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books and articles.
• Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150-200 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph known as the annotation.
• The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.
• Select one topic related to oppression such as race, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexual orientation, social class, gender identity and expression, disability, religion, age, and immigration within the context of social work.
• By critically reading the sources, you will see what the issues are, and what people are arguing about. As a result, you will be able to develop your point of view. This approach will allow you to develop your argument.
• This annotated bibliography will serve as your selection for the literature review for the Understanding Oppression Analysis paper.
• A concise annotation summarizes the central themes and scope of the articles or books.
