SDSU Temperament Scale Journal
Description
Temperament is the inborn differences between one person and another in emotions, activity, and self regulation. Babies are each born with their own temperament! Your child, your partner, your employer may all have a different temperament than you! Knowing the difference in temperament can be a crucial factor in developing social bonds.
For this Journal I ask that you complete the scale for yourself, and make note of your score on the scale.
Then, you can either use the scale again for someone you have a relationship with (Partner, adult sibling, co-worker, roommate. etc). You can also use the Scale for children if you have a child.
Then look at areas where your rating numbers were far apart. Think about how this may, or may not, have an effect on your social relationship. Remember that there is no right or wrong temperament, it’s just the one of the beautiful ways that makes us unique!
Example : In Activity level I rated very high, a 5. On vacation I enjoy sitting on the beach, watching the waves, reading a good book). My travel buddy scored a 1. He likes to book several activities in one day and is constantly on the move. So we needed to compromise and communicate about our vacation plans! )
