There’s a lot of committees that do amazing work but the two that I chose to focus on are the House of Veterans’ Affairs Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. With each committee, they bring new advancements and laws that help increase better life and health for the people of the United States of America.

The house committee on Veterans’ Affairs has a chairman, Mark Takano. This committee was created by the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946. This committee has had numerous accomplishments within a year, let alone 5 years. They’ve partnered with multiple organizations, designed equipment, started new studies, etc. One accomplishment is to update the Rural Access to Local (RURAL) Exams Act of 2021. Another act was the Post-9/11 Veterans’ Mental Health Care Improvement Act of 2021 to help the mental health and expand care to veterans post 9/11. This is to improve veterans’ access to health exams especially those in rural households and areas. This committee works with veterans to help them with their lives. This committee is easy to approach and get assistance from through benefits. On it’s website, they’ve got a crisis line

The House Science, Space, and Technology Committee has a chairman, Eddie Johnson. This committee is in charge of research and development that has to do with space, energy and technology. One of the reasons this committee was created was because of post 9/11, the U.S. wanted to better prepare and combat terrorism attacks. One accomplishment is the combating sexual harassment in science act which was in 2022. This is to protect anyone in science from sexual harassment, to research and use interventions to make changes, which was directed to the National Science Foundation. Another accomplishment is the plastic waste reduction and recycling research act done in 2021. This act is to reduce plastic waste in a quick manner so it doesn’t harm the people of the environment, and to increase research about recycling. With this committee, we can use the research and new technology from this committee to advance and help Earth become a safer and cleaner planet for everyone.
