Part 1 : Summary of Group Discussion

Describe the roles and tasks for the proposal. Who is responsible for each section? Use the prompt, and the sample proposal for guides. 

How will you be holding each other accountable throughout this collaborative project process?

How will your group be communicating throughout the unit? Will you be using email, Google Docs, Blackboard, Facebook, text messaging, Skype, ____? 

How often will you be communicating with your group? Do you have any set dates to keep in contact? 

Part 2 : Review of Chapters 13 (Proposals) and 14 (Reports) 

In the introduction of chapter 13, how are proposals defined?  What examples from society, college, and the workplace are given? 

Review the section on TV, book, and film pitches.  Which pitch are you most interested in? Why?  Do you believe all three pitches could be successful?  Why or why not?

How are student proposals and grant proposals similar?  How are they different?  

Review the grant proposal for an undergraduate project and a study abroad project.  If you had the power to grant funds to one of these projects, which would you choose and why?  What specific aspects of the proposal persuaded you one way or the other?

Describe 3 strategies for proposals that you find most helpful.

Compare and contrastnews reports with recommendation reports.  Write a complete paragraph.

Part 3 : Describe your Role in the Group

What are the challenges of the role that you have chosen in your group?  

Describe your background or expertise in the topic. How will that enhance your role or contributions to the project?

What resources do you think will be the best support for your project? (academic journals, news, expert opinion, etc.)
