In these uncertain times, many healthcare providers are faced with the fact that health disparities are becoming more visible. With the growing number of COVID-19, the Latino and African-American communities have been hit the hardest. Please watch this news report in regards to the health disparities faced by the Latino community during this pandemic.

During this course, I hope that you feel that you feel empowered to be an advocate for your Latino patients. Not only are you attending to your patient’s physical needs, but you also care for their mental, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs. Viewing each patient as a multifaceted human being can help you bridge the gap between patient and healthcare provider. Learning how to appropriately approach and treat your Latino patients will only increase patient compliance and patient satisfaction scores. In order to be part of the solution, you need to understand the problem.
