In this assignment, we will be introducing two new ideas: 1) using a visual aid in our speech to enhance the audience’s understanding of our message. 2) the use of sources during the presentation.

You are to deliver an Informative speech lasting 5-7 minutes on a topic of your choice. Let me remind you, however, that you may not repeat topics. Whatever topic you select for this presentation may not be one you used in the past or will use again for our future presentation.

Your speech should have a clear Introduction, Body, and Conclusion accomplishing the objectives for each. I suggest that you watch the videos I have posted explaining each of these 3 sections. You may find the links to these videos on our D2L home page under the News item with the heading “Videos on how to structure and Informative Speech”.

You must use at least three sources in researching this presentation. You should cite these three sources in the Body of the speech as you use the information from these sources.

You must have at least one visual aid that you will use during the Body of the speech. As you read your text you will notice that a visual aid can serve several different functions. For this assignment, the purpose of your visual aid is to enhance the audience’s understanding of the main points. Your visual aid(s) should help you to explain at least one of your main points. 

I must be able to see that you are using your visual aid during your presentation. I want to see you and your visual aid in your recording. Once your speech is over I want you to zoom in on the visual aid so that I can clearly see what it looks like.
