Introduction

Discussion forums allow students the opportunity to analyze and discuss project management topics with classmates and the instructor.  They are an opportunity for sharing insights and experiences within project management and are relative to the readings, other weekly course material, and the Unit Learning Outcomes.  Please review the Learning Outcomes and the Directions prior to posting your response to the discussion prompt below.

Unit Learning Outcomes

• Examine the existing WBS and understand how new information can cause updates.
• Debate how having multiple project management offices (PMOs) cause a need to have strict governance and integration practices within organizations.
• Analyze the basic principles of project governance and how each of these components impact projects.
• Analyze peer competencies to identify the strengths and areas of opportunities for each member.

Directions

This week’s discussion focuses on understanding the impact of governance and project integration when there are multiple PMOs within an organization. After reading and watching this week’s material, engage in an active discussion regarding the Integration and governance of multiple project management offices (PMOs) at large organizations.

• What is project integration and how does it impact the overall project?
• What is project governance and what role does the project manager play? What role do the stakeholders and the project team members play as well?
