In Mississippi laws and statutes related to the treatment of those who are “sexual offenders” are more extensive and stricter when it comes to the responsibilities of public disclosure and registration. Legislation for sex offenders can created challenges that other offenders may not face, the laws that influence the challenges are Megan’s Law, Adam Walsh Act, and the Wetterling Act (Tewksburgy & Copes). Not to mention the obligation is more put on the individual who commit the sexual offenses and must follow the laws put forth by the state regarding reentry, which has its own challenges.
