OCU Week 5 Prevention Program Analysis Project

OCU Week 5 Prevention Program Analysis Project

Description

Objective: Analyze of a prevention program with regard to outcomes, target group, impact assessment, goals, and objectives

Many prevention programs are evidenced based and have data readily available to provide proof of their effectiveness. This final project will be the most time consuming in the course but probably the most important as it synthesizes all the knowledge you have gained in the past five weeks.

Identify a prevention program in your geographic area.

Write a 4-5 page paper analyzing of the program.

To achieve maximum points for content and analysis, the following elements need to be thoroughly addressed:

  • Interview the director or worker in the program.
  • In your analysis identify the target group goals and objectives.

Are these goals and objective realistic for the target group? Why or why not?

If the program does not have an if-then statement (refer to Chapter 8), briefly write one.

Attempt to obtain short-term data: how was this data collected and analyzed? Are the analytical methods consistent with good science?

  • Does the program have any long-term impact data? Again, how was the data collected and analyzed? Are the analytical methods consistent with good science?
  • Finally, if you were a funder, would you continue to fund this program? Why or why not?
  • Ensure that you have cited and referenced at least three scholarly sources.
