Description
Objective: Examine the importance of church and religious involvement on exerting a protective effect against substance abuse in adolescents
New research indicates that church and religious involvement play a role as a protective factor against substance abuse. But while we know it is a protective factor, many do not know the role it plays. Christians in the prevention field working in government-funded programs are not allowed to discuss religion directly with the clients they serve. However one may choose to work in a Christian setting like a Christian school. In addition, many large religious institutions have prevention programs in place.
