Oakland Community College Hiring Ex Cons Student Discussion Responses

Hiring ex-cons is a tough topic. It seems situational and depends on the heart of the convict. Personally, I would be open, even intrigued, with hiring an ex-convict who wants to start a new life, maintain the drive to work hard, and constantly improve on breaking previous, destructive habits while building new, productive habits. If someone who recently left prison does not want to work on their faults and remains difficult to work with, it will be incredibly hard to incorporate them into the normal work environment. According to an article by CNBC, “82 percent of executives say their ex-offender hires have been at least as successful as their average hire” (Mullaney). This shows that most ex-offenders display the needed redemptive qualities.
In addition to looking at the attitude and mindset of the employee, the employer should also consider the impact it might have on other employees. To make sure that all the employees are comfortable with working with former criminals, the company should develop a system to slowly involve their ex-con new hires into the workforce and always update their employees on the ex-cons they are hiring. This will not only assure that the other employees are comfortable, but it will also allow the co-workers to be more gracious with the ex-cons.
Most reasonable people will take the second chance if they are offered it, so I support hiring ex-cons with a cautious, planned approach and a careful examination of the heart of the potential employee.

HI professor, Can I have a respond on this? ” I will add tip for it” Please and Thanks!! Its Due Tomorrow.. Sam. What words and pictures come to mind when you hear the word “research”? What do you feel “research” is? When I hear the word research, I start to see men and women in white lab coats looking into microscopes and conducting experiments on robots, chemicals, or some other advanced technology. I guess research is the mechanism used to test whether an idea is good or not. It is the process by which data is gathered to generate or test an idea. There are different ways of conducting research; however, any method you use will be based upon the methodical collection and analysis of data for what you are studying. Another, research method I think that is overlooked in some cases is data Interpretation this is where you go through tables, figures, and pictures, and then described in words where the research eventually takes you. Do you feel that research needs to be objective in order to be effective? Explain your answer.Yes, I believe research needs to be objective instead of subjective in order to be effective. The reason is because we want to eliminate bias and be able to reproduce results in order to stay true to the principles of scientific method. For example, you need to delineate specific temperatures in order to find the ideal room temperature. This experiment will not work if we simply relied upon peoples differing judgments on what is warm and or cool. Accurate results can be skewed pretty easily if you have different perceptions and judgments when conducting research. We need to conduct controlled experiments in order get accurate results. What are some ways we can learn about the users we are building for? Explain the pros and cons of your suggestions. In my opinion, the most important phase out of the SDLC process is the gathering of requirements and analysis phase. It is crucial to any project’s process. This is where you start to identify and understand the scope of the project you’re embarking on. The gathering requirements and analysis phase gives the developers ideas on what the end-users are looking for in a product. The insight gained at this stage outlines the steps needed to have a successful product launch. Pros:One way is to do market research focus groups. Another method would be to find out what they think after they have used the product. User feedback can be very informative and helpful, but only if you are asking right questions and for the right things. There are several methods we can use like surveys to gather people’s opinions and thoughts about a particular product. One of the popular methods used today is to send products to various individuals that have influence on the Internet and have them open, use, and the product and provide feedback while live streaming. Live streaming provides real time feedback on a particular channel or site which can be used to get instant feedback to a company that’s looking for ideas for improving their product. Con:Live streaming can result in negative Instant feedback as well, but it can be helpful to fully understand your customer base. Not fully understanding your customer base and their needs. Getting mixed feedback from your end users can result in a delayed product launch.
Thanks a lot!!! I am really sorry, it was a lot this week,Last thing I promised,Can I have a respond on this one ASAP? Please!!!What words and pictures come to mind when you hear the word “research”? What do you feel “research” is?When I hear the word research, I think about studying and looking into more information. I picture a person at a desk on a computer with a pile of books by them reading and writing whatever new information they learn. Another thing that comes to mind is a student at the library. Some words that come to mind when I hear research are notebooks, libraries, Google, and studying. To me, research is learning something new or finding more information on a subject a person is looking into. Do you feel that research needs to be objective in order to be effective?I would have to say no a lot of times when I do research it’s because I found something interesting, and I look for more for myself and sometimes share the information with friends and families. For example, I learned about the fyre fest a few years ago and I thought it was one of the most interesting things, so I did research into it and how it was planned, and what went wrong. A couple of months later I had an essay about an unsuccessful business venture and so I wrote about the fyre fest since I knew so much about it. Another example is my favorite spy In WW2 had a documentary was made about him which was made in a serious matter there is also a video made about him that was not objective both are well researched and get the point across well. I do agree in a professional environment that research should be objective and unbiased because it would be more effective in an office space. What are some ways we can learn about the users we are building for?The first thing that comes to mind would be users’ surveys, in my opinion, one of the best ways to learn about users. Some of the pros are that it’s one of the most direct ways we can learn about the users. But one of the biggest cons is that most people are not willing to spend their time doing surveys. But more people are willing to do it if there is an incentive like a free item or other things. Another way we can learn about users is by making a persona, the pros are you can get generalized personas of several types of users. The con is that it won’t help learn about an individual user. Similar to surveys there are interviews, some pros, it’s a great way to get individual user info on certain subjects. The con is that it is very time-consuming and not everyone might not want to be interviewed.PermalinkReply
