Nursing Specialty

I chose to do the acute care degree due to different job opportunites. The job opportunity will assist me in being more open to different hospitals and different positions. At present time, I only have my family practice degree. I am very limited as to what I can do with that degree. In obtaining my acute care degree, per Red Ventures Company, I will be able to ” serve as a crucial communication link for all healthcare professionals. Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) determine the direction of patient care for acutely and critically ill patients. Their duties include making life-saving decisions in fast-paced environments. ACNP responsibilities typically are intubation, suturing, casting, reading X-rays and ultrasounds, and placing central lines.”

Professional Organization

There is a professional organization called Gerontological Advance Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) that represents the interest of advance practice nursed, other clinicans, educatos and reseachers involved inthe practic of advancment of caring of older adults. The GAPNA provides opportunities for education, leadership, reseach, advocacy, netowrking and the advancement of evidence-based care. The goals of GAPNA are to advocate for older adults, promote professional development, provide gerontological education, and enchance communication and collaboration. To become a member one has to fill out the application and then pay the membership fee.
