Norfolk State University Individual Counseling and Coaching Paper

Research is an integral part of your degree program; therefore, each student will produce an 8–10-page Thesis Paper specifically focused on a pre-approved topic to be assigned by your Professor. Please see the Table below with your Pre-Approved Thesis Topic.

The 8-10 Page Thesis Paper should follow the following format:

1. Introduction (1-2 pages)

2. General Research on Main Topic assigned (i.e., what is grief, why does marriage need help, what are examples of individual human needs and trauma) (3-4 pages)

3. Mental Health Research on the Topic (i.e., grief and bereavement therapy, diagnosis, prognosis, who is affected, what is working: counseling treatments, coaching and community work, non-traditional options (3-4 pages)

4. Appendix: Include 3 handouts, worksheets, quizzes, etc. related to your topic in an Appendix Section of your Thesis Paper. (each document should begin on its own page and the number of pages will depend on the number of pages of the handout, worksheet or quiz. You may not have less than 3 here but you can have more than 3 items in your Appendix)

Your Thesis Paper will utilize APA Style, 12-point font, Times New Roman, Double Spaced, Page Numbering, (No abstract necessary), etc. Papers should include a Cover Page and a Reference Page (not included in 3-5 pages). Papers should include at least five (5) references from Peer-Reviewed Journals ONLY (the United States only).
