Attached is an article about the closing of the Obstetrics Unit of a rural hospital.

Pretend that you are on the state committee that is charged with reviewing the Certificate of Need that the Windham Hospital has submitted to complete the closure. Since you have a background in Health Services Management, the state committee is eager to have your perspective on the decision

Prior to the meeting, you decide to look at the closure from Windham Hospital’s point of view. Therefore, include in your discussion:

• TWO reasons why Windham Hospital has made this decision, and
• From a Health Services Manager perspective, describe, in detail, why you would you agree with the decision, and
• Describe one possible alternative that could be designed for the women in the community so they could deliver their babies in the community and avoid long and potentially dangerous travel to another hospital
