There were many, many heroes of the Civil Rights Movement, though most only think about Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks. But as you now know, there are so many, many more.
For your first reflection, you are to choose a hero of the Civil Rights Movement that is NOT listed above. Do your own research, cultivate your own resources – they must be scholarly (no .coms), and learn more about that person. There are so many amazing folks to choose from and learn more about.
Then, reflect on their struggles and accomplishments. In your journal, write about his/her legacy. What lesson(s) are to be learned from what they experienced? What should we remember and carry with us today from his/her work and sacrifice? If you could ask him/her anything, what would you ask?
