Watch the first 20 minutes of Daddy & Papa (link in today’s, Tues, 4/6, instructions), then answer the following:
What were the different paths to parenthood that the fathers in the video took? In other words, how did they become parents? The narrator and his partner adopted through foster care… what about the other fathers depicted in the film?
What were some of the barriers to parenthood that these fathers faced? In other words, what were some challenges that they experienced on their way to becoming parents?
One thing that I like about this film is that it doesn’t shy away from difficult and complex topics, such as issues pertaining to race (i.e., white gay fathers raising Black children). What did you think of the film?
