Learning Goal: I’m working on a literature question and need guidance to help me learn.
Write a rough draft of your Historical Criticism Research Project in which you do the following:
1.) Summarize 3-4 academic sources that help provide historical and cultural context for your text, providing quotations from each source. If you are unable to find 3, 2 is okay.
2.) Summarize your literary or cinematic text with reference to key details such as the setting, characters, plot, and major themes. Provide quotations.
3.) Briefly discuss how the secondary academic sources help us understand the literary or cinematic text. This discussion will be expanded in later drafts. For now, just try to sketch out some connections and ideas. You do not need to develop a thesis at this stage.
4.) Include a works cited page in MLA style for all sources referenced in your paper.
