Discussion 4

Students will need to post a link to an article https://www.wsj.com/ regarding a current event (something in the last 60 days before each post) regarding a topic of your choice from related Chapters.

The Post 

Here are some topics to consider from the chapters 11 – 13:

• Risk and return
• Cost of capital and financial leverage- cost of equity, cost of debt, cost of capital, weighted cost of capital, firm value, stock value.
• Financial leverage, capital structure, bankruptcy cost. Tax shield. 

You will be evaluated on how current the article is, how closely it relates to the topics in the chapters and the quality of the contribution to the discussion in class. Your post should be 200-250 words.
 

The Response

Once you have posted your article, visit two of your fellow classmate’s article posts and provide some feedback.  “I agree/disagree” or “Great Article” is not acceptable. Provide a response that pushes that conversation forward.  How this affects you or how you think this will affect a business or certain market.  Take some time, reflect and provide a unique perspective. 

This is the most challenging part of this assignment, because what you are doing is practicing how to drive a conversation or participate in a conversation about Information Systems.  Being able to discuss these topics is an essential part of your curriculum. Your response posts should be 100-150 words.
