“Second research paper, your assignment will be scheduling. (I always hated this part of it! Especially call-offs) Students will prepare a one-month schedule concerning security company employment. You can choose different fields (security jobs), so this assignment is specific to your company. In general terms, you have ten employees who must be assigned three different forty-hour (+) work schedules: eight-hour, ten-hour, and twelve-hour shifts. Some of you may have companies working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, while others have companies working weekends only. Regardless, schedule “all” your employees for these three shifts (8, 10, or 12 hours), covering the specific hours you are required by contract.
Your employees are one Lt. in charge of everyone, a Sgt. or Sgt.’s in charge of specific shifts, and the other security employees working the various shifts.
You must also confirm how the Fair Labor Standards Act will impact these shifts. Does working an employee over eight hours require overtime or other compensation? Does working as a “supervisor” over eight, ten, or twelve hours come under the Fair Labor Standards Act? Finally, you will need to include the financial breakdown for each shift. As your potential client, I want to know which of the three shifts gives me the best coverage for the least amount of money.
I would suggest writing a research paper outlining your plans to cover your shifts and then adding an excel sheet designating which employees are working which shifts and the financial breakdown of each shift.”
