Discussion: Chapter 1: Introduction to Statistics

Consider the following problem and state how you would answer it and why.

During World War II, US bombers were being shot down by enemy fire.  The generals decided that they would add armor to the planes to protect them from enemy fire.  But where? The image shows the pattern of bullet holes of the planes that made it back to base

Of those planes, the table gives the statistics of bullet hole counts in four regions.

You couldn’t armor the entire plane, it would make it too heavy and wouldn’t carry enough bombs, a major part of being a bomber.  Given the weight, they could only armor one location.  Use the above information to state which of the four regions you would add armor and why.  Then consider, how is this math?

My definition of “ethics”
