1. Discuss how the essential elements of interpersonal communication (source/receiver,
messages, feedback, feedforward, channel, noise, context, competence, ethics) create
what we experience as transactional communication. (Ch. 1)
2. Explain the five psychological processes that influence perceptions (primacy and recency,
self-fulfilling prophecy, personality theory, consistency, and attribution) and what barriers
to accurate perception can result. (Ch. 3)
And then These questions involve synthesis/personal application.
Your answers should be in first person. For instance, for question three don’t just list the textbook’s
strategies for increasing self-esteem, but discuss what would work best for increasing your own self-esteem.
3. Discuss specific strategies by which you could increase personal feelings of self-esteem. (Ch.3)

describe strategies for improving your own ability to communicate assertively. (Ch. 5)
