MCC Accepting Yuan Instead of Dollars for Chinese Oil Sales Discussion

Select a current issue related to the country you have selected to research this semester.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this discussion is:

• to ensure you have the opportunity to relate course content to the real world
• to give you the opportunity to write professionally
• to generate online, classroom-like interaction

Step 1: Resources 

Determine the credible (Links to an external site.) appropriate/professional resources needed and gather resources effectively and efficiently.

• Search through the MCC online library resources or Internet for credible (Links to an external site.) resources
• Based on your chosen country, select a topic about a current (within one year) Current International Business issue/problem or current event issue/problem in business and how it is affecting other businesses and/or individuals based on your readings so far in the class  
  • Ideas of valid Internet sources, (other than a library) are BBC, Forbes, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, selected country digital Newspapers, etc. Please do not use blogs, wikis, individual journals, or biased opinions. You can also use your book to define certain terms you may use in your summary (encouraged). Do not use Wikipedia.

Step 2: Topic selected and why chosen

• The heading is to be the name of the article in all caps and the author.
  • For example: XYZ COMPANY AFFECTED BY GREECE BANKS by [give author’s name]
• The first paragraph must define why you chose this topic. For example:
  • I chose this topic because the economic crisis that detrimentally affected the United States is now spreading to other countries. I am an avid traveler and I am concerned about the effects of declining economies and on future tourism.

Step 3: Summarize the article

• Write a summary of the article, Mix opinion and facts based on your interpretation of the article. (This is a business report for your peers, supervisors, etc. Ensure you are using accurate spelling and grammar rules.)

1. The total response should be approximately 400-450 words.  
2. Use at list two different resources to validate content.
3. Use at least two in-text citations from your article and remember to provide references at the end of your posting.
4. Use MLA Formatting. (Links to an external site.)
5. Relate the issue in the current article to course content. For example: globalization, political economy, exporting, cultural differences, etc.
