Louisiana State University Collegiate Athletes Gambling Presentation

The current ethical/legal issue we chose was Collegiate Athletes Gambling.

Assignment Rationale: The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with a real-world
opportunity to identify, research, analyze, synthesis, and present relevant information on a
current ethical and/or legal issue in sport.

Assignment Details: Ethical and legal issues are ever present in the world of sport and sport
administration. From gender and racial equality/equity, NIL, the status of marijuana within
sports, performance enhancing drugs, concepts of sportsmanship and cheating, social
responsibility, to participant/spectator violence, being able to identify and synthesis these issues
is a critical skill of sport administrators.

Working with your group, you will identify a current ethical and/or legal issue in sport and will
develop a 8-10 minute powerpoint presentation addressing key components of that issue and how they relate
to the course material. The presentation should be professional, well designed, use appropriate
visuals/graphics, and present the relevant information in a concise manner.

Each presentation should include an introduction of the speakers (4 speakers) and the issue at hand, provide
any and all relevant ethical and legal information on the issue, provide analysis of the issue,
discuss future implications of the issue, and provide a summarizing conclusion.

Specifically,
each group will:
• Identify and define the issue
• Present the facts that relate to the issue
• Identify the ethical considerations of the issue
• Identify the legal rules and/or implications of the issue
• Provide analysis of the pros/cons of the issue
• Provide future implications of the issue (What will happen to/because of this issue in
future?)
