Los Angeles Southwest College Theater Essay

Description

Hello Awesome Class,

So for this week, one of your assignments was to read Chapters 1 and 2 in the full length play “Topdog/Underdog” by Suzan Lori Parks. Once you have read the play, for this discussion, you will need to go to “www.youtube.com” and search for the following videos: “Topdog Underdog Parks full play”. I have left a few videos of selected scenes from the play. There is no “movie” version of the play, and many of the clips for the play are low quality and are very blurry. That is why some of the viewing of the videos this week is optional and not required for you. Find as many scenes from “Topdog/Underdog” that you can online and watch them. Or you may simply watch the required clips I left for you. But the play will be more enjoyable if you watch as many clips as you can from the play. All my clips and also as many other clips that you can find on www.youtube.comLinks to an external site.

Again, you may find a lot of small clips and scenes, but there is no “MOVIE” full length version of this play. Please note.

After watching the videos, and reading Chapters 1 and 2 in “Topdog/Underdog” – please write a 40 sentence discussion post on what you have learned about the characters “Lincoln” and “Booth” in the first two scenes of the play. Please write 20 sentences on “Lincoln” and 20 sentences on “Booth”. What does the play tell us about our characters in scenes 1 and 2 of the play. Please format your answers like the example below:

Booth:

“In both scene 1 and scene 2, Booth reveals that he has a girlfriend named Grace. He also reveals that she broke up with him at one point in their past. The author of the play, Suzan-Lori Parks, reveals that Booth is considered the “Underdog” on the first page of the play.” PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU WRITE 20 SENTENCES FOR BOOTH AND 20 SENTENCES FOR LINCOLN. Please formate your writing like I did with Booth above. Also please make sure you initial posts are in BOLD and your characters names are BOLD and UNDERLINED.
