http://www.nytimes.com/projects/2013/invisible-child/#/?chapt=1

The below all relate to Dasani. Your midterm must:

  • In a narrative form, describe the risk, protective and resilience factors. (3 pages)
  • Create a table outlining a common risk and protective factors: an ecological multisystem protective (table). (1 page)
  • Create a genogram. (1 page)
  • Create an eco-map. (1 page)
  • Create a culturagram (1page)
  • additional information to help
  • The mid term is designed as a mutisystemic evaluation of a family in crisis. The focus appears to be Dasani, but in reality the entire family is under a microscope. In order to track how they got where they are what factors are in place or can be put in place to assist. The Genogram is needed as the family is pretty big helps us put the peices together easier when we are working with them: there is a whole lecture on genograms upoaded to blackboard The EcoMap is needed this will help us see all the environmental factors that the family is in communication with (all the social services, neighboorhood, shelter, etc) also included in the lecturesCoomon risk and protective factors: all you have to do is list the common risk and if there is a protective factor include it for exxample:Mom and Dad have a drug problem (Risk Factor)—- Taking methodone to address it (protective factor)You can create a table if you want or include it in the narrative.I outlined it like this so you can structure your pages, a commmon question is how many pages does it need to be and I am confused on what else to incude , I thought laying it out like this would help ease the process. We removed the culturagram- not commonly used no need to include it.This midterm is important as how you see this case puts your social work lens on the spot, there is so much happening with this family, it’s tragic, then you see light and then something doesen’t pan out and we are back to square one again. Imagine working with this family, the highs the lows adnd trying to work the system the best way you can to address the issues.
